MISSION STATEMENT
The purpose of the club is to encourage the instruction, practice, and advancement of its members in free skating, pair skating, dancing and all types of figure skating; to encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters; to sponsor, to produce, or cooperate in the production of amateur ice carnivals and shows; and generally to do and perform such other acts as may be necessary, advisable, proper or incidental in the realization of the objectives and purposes of this organization; and to carry out the general policies of U S Figure Skating.
LOCATION

SKATING DIRECTOR
Our skating director, Mel Chapman, oversees the club figure skating program and Basic Skills, as well as directing our numerous Ice Shows, the Halloween “Spooktacular”, Christmas “Holiday Extravaganza”, and the grand finale of the season, “Springtime on Ice”. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. He is a member of the Professional Skaters Association, with 20 years of coaching experience. He has his Gold “Senior” Freestyle and Pairs, 8 time qualifier to the U.S. National Figure Skating Championships, Sectional Pairs Champion, Eastern Great Lakes (regional) Intermediate singles champion and Eastern Great Lakes (regional) Juvenile singles champion.
EVENTS
The Fraser Figure Skating Club has hosted one of the largest synchronized skating competitions in the country, Mid-America Synchronized Skating Championships, for over 25 years. The Club has also been host to the Midwestern Synchronized Skating Championships (1991, 1996, 2000 & 2006) and the North American International Synchronized Skating Championships. The Eastern Great Lakes Figure Skating Championships were also held here in 1994.
HISTORY
The Fraser Figure Skating Club (FFSC) was formed in 1978. After a year probationary membership, U S Skating granted the Fraser FSC full membership.
U S Figure Skating is the official governing body of amateur figure skating on ice in the United States. It was formed in 1921 and had 7 members. Today, the organization has 550 Member Clubs and more than 200,000 skaters. It is the only organization that leads highly talented skaters through Regional, Sectional, and National Competitions and on to World and Olympic Games. U S Figure Skating in turn belongs to the International Skating Union (ISU).
Fraser Figure Skating Club (FFSC) uses the U S Figure Skating rules, regulations and test structures to assist the skaters in their advancement. These are found in the current U S Figure Skating Rulebook, which can be purchased through the club.
